Balcony House
Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado, 2013
Balcony House is believed to have been built near the end of the ancestral Puebloan peoples' stay in the area, perhaps around 1280 A.D. Access now is available only through a ranger-guided tour, though visitors do get to climb a 32-foot ladder just to reach the dwelling and crawl through a narrow tunnel before climbing another ladder to exit.
