Blue Lakes Pass
Mount Sneffels Wilderness, Uncompahgre National Forest, Colorado
I was on the way up Mount Sneffels (14,150') one stormy August afternoon when I looked back to see these clouds rolling over the ridges above Blue Lakes Pass. That would have been a good time for me to turn around. Instead, I kept going and was more forcefully compelled to turn around mere feet from the summit by two bolts of lightning, one vertical and one horizontal, roughly a mile away.
