Columbine Lake

San Juan National Forest, Colorado

Columbine Lake, one of the many jewels of the San Juans, has a deep blue color produced by glacial silt that has washed down from the sides of its surrounding 13,000'+ peaks and ridges.  After making several images by the lake's shore, I hiked up to the ridge on the far side to get a different and, for me, better perspective.
