Icefloe Lake in Midsummer
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
Ten years ago, I became friends with a former student of mine, a Wyoming kid who was highly intelligent and who had a great love for the outdoors. That summer, he led the way as we got to the top of Middle Teton (12,805') on a long day-hike. Although the clouds closed on us so quickly when we reached the summit that I had time to take not even one shot from the top, I still remember the hike as one of my all-time favorites. I did manage to take this shot of Icefloe Lake from a saddle just below the summit pyramid. Epilogue: That Wyoming kid is now an endodontist, and we remain great friends.
