Kissing Couple above the Clouds
Colorado National Monument, Colorado, 2013
The rock formation in the foreground is called the "Kissing Couple," though the name doesn't make much sense from this particular viewpoint. The name is obvious, though, when you see this formation from the trail that leads to the bottom of Independence Monument. The clouds in this image came during a period of interesting weather that also saw temperature inversions filling both Grand Canyon and Black Canyon of the Gunnison to their rims with clouds.
