Lunar Eclipse, Mount Sneffels
Mount Sneffels Wilderness, Colorado, 2015
For the fourth eclipse of the 2014/2015 tetrad, I hauled myself and a bunch of stuff up to the summit of Mount Sneffels, 14,150', in the nearby San Juan mountains. Clouds that had threatened all day to cause trouble largely vanished, leaving me with an incredible vantage point from which to watch the super moon.
During the entire eclipse sequence, the sky changes dramatically from bright to dark to bright again; in a composite image showing that sequence, what does one choose as the "background" against which the eclipse is set? In this version, the background is simply that of the second photo in the sequence. The sequence itself was 41 photos taken every 5 minutes between about 19:00 and 22:30.
