Moonscape

Kings Canyon National Park, California, 2013

This view from Muir Pass (11,955') looks into the upper part of Evolution Basin and lies well above tree line, giving it a feeling of desolation and open emptiness, especially in this wide-angle, black-and-white rendering with the stark contrast afforded by the equivalent of a red filter.  Technically, the image belongs in the 'Mountains' gallery, but 'Deserts' seems to fit better.
