Storm Light on Goblin Valley
Goblin Valley State Park, Utah, 2006
Without light, there is no photography, and even the natural light sought by the landscape photographer comes in a seemingly endless combination of intensities and colors. For me, what I call "storm light," intense direct light illuminating a foreground with dark clouds in the background, is tough to beat. I made this image on Fujichrome Velvia slide film as a summer thunderstorm was clearing at sunset. Photo © copyright by Greg Owens.
